Our place in Portsmouth
The parish is in the central southern part of the City of Portsmouth, and is mainly residential with little industry.
Southsea is a seaside resort and the southern boundary of the parish is the seafront. Many hotels, guesthouses, pubs, nightclubs, etc. are included in this area together with a large number of rest homes; the residential accommodation includes considerable contrasts from DSS and other multiple-occupancy households through to very comfortable middle-class housing. The parish is part of an "inner city" area and is very densely populated. The parish includes one side of Albert Road, a busy shopping area.
Networks and Links with other churches
We are involved with an emerging network of evangelical/charismatic city churches. The leaders of these churches meet regularly for prayer and mutual support.
There is also a weekly early morning Prayer Meeting hosted by leaders on a rota system and this is well attended by members of the different churches. We also do all we can to work and fellowship with more traditional churches including those of our own denomination. The recent Millennium Eve open air Service was a ground breaking example of this followed by a Joint Churches Pentecost Celebration in June 2000.
