Christingle Service

Our December KISS Service was our Christingle Service. We learned about the real meaning of Christmas being Jesus’s birthday. When Jesus came to earth he came to be the light of the world.

We then made traditional Christingle’s, like this…

Christingle

The Orange represents the world, created by God. The Red Ribbon represents the blood of Jesus, who died for our sins. The four cocktail sticks are the four seasons of the year, created by God. The dried fruit and sweets represent the fruits of the earth and the earth’s riches God has blessed the world with. The white candle, which is place in the top of the orange, represents Jesus, the light of the world that shines over everything.

We then lit the candles in our Christingles, went into the nave of the Church to sing ‘This Little Light of mine.’

Nativity Service

On Sunday 18th of December we had our annual Nativity play. Members of our congregation of all ages came together to take part in telling the Nativity Story.

Children’s Christmas Party

On Monday 19th of December St. Simons hosted a Christmas party for the children of our church and their friends. We had lots of fun making Christmas Cards, finger puppets, reindeers and Crowns. Then we played lots of games upstairs where we could run around, before having a big lunch! We hunted in the church and found different parts of the Nativity story, and talked about Jesus’ birthday. Then we had a surprise visit from Father Christmas!

We had lots of fun, and are looking forward to the Easter party in April!

Youth Christmas Meal

To celebrate Christmas the Young people at St. Simons had a meal together. Everyone came early to either decorate the hall or help prepare the food!

We had a traditional Christmas dinner, with lots of dessert! It was a big job, with nearly 20 people (including young people and leaders) eating! But it was worth all of the effort everyone put in! Everyone was very full when the eating finished, and all agree the many chef’s who prepared the meal did a wonderful job. The Lower Church Centre looked wonderfully decorated with tinsel, trees, and Christmas Crackers. After dinner we played some games, had a quiz, and then clearing up.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening, and a great chance to share Christmas together!
